Call for Submissions

Deadline: 1 April 2027

Divine Intervention Zines is publishing its first official print issue in 2027. We want your writing, art, eulogies, love letters, and more. You don’t need to be published, trained, or prove your worth to us with your follower count. If you made something and it means something to you, we want to see it.

What we’re looking for:

Advertisements: Want your business or organization in the magazine? Check the Advertisements box on the form below and tell us a little bit about who you are and how you actively support Nashville’s creative community. We’ll follow up with info on ad tiers, pricing, and sponsorship details.

Ask Ellen: Should you dump him? Is faking your own death really the best option? Are you the asshole or is it all your father-in-law’s fault? Send us your dilemma and our resident advice columnist Ellen might just set you straight. Anon sign-offs are welcome; just type Anonymous in place of your name when you fill out the form below.

Rumor Has It: Heard something unhinged? We did too. From Bigfoot sightings on I-40 to tall tales about the gas station down the road, this is our gossip column for all things absurd and unverifiable. 50 words or less. Keep it fun and leave out the names of real people and places.

Obituaries and Memorials: For people, pets, venues that closed, cars that broke down, buildings that were demolished, bars that became condos, and whatever and whoever you’ve loved and lost.

Bodies for Hire: Tattoo artists, illustrators, filmmakers, makeup artists, dog walkers, house sitters, models, seamstresses, or anyone you know who has a skill and a rate and could use the extra cash. You can even submit yourself!

Cars: Your favorite car, a car you envy, a car you hate, a car you saw once in a parking lot and never forgot. Photos, drawings, love letters, and grievances are all welcome.

Music: Album reviews, band photos, show reviews, flyers, interviews, local bands that deserve more attention.

Movies/Film: Reviews, essays, stills, a well-loved movie you just don’t get, local cinematographers/actors/gaffers/projects you want to hype up.

Video Games: Speedrun stories, reviews, consoles old and new, the game that got you through a 6-week bout of pneumonia, the pros and cons of yelling at the screen, and all the photos you’ve been taking in camera mode.

Writing (General): Poetry and prose that doesn’t fit into any of the categories above, split into fiction and non-fiction. Send us poems, short stories, reporting, criticism, rants, personal essays, book reports, and more. Want a second set of eyes before it goes to print? Our editor, Wyatt, is happy to help. Just let us know you’re interested in editing assistance in the Submission Details field.

Cartoons and Comics: Single panels, strips, multi-page stories. Whether they’re sad, funny, political, or nonsensical, every paper needs the funny pages.

Visual Art (General): Any visual media that isn’t a cartoon or comic. All media welcome: painting, printmaking, illustration, photography, sculpture, murals, collage, textiles, cyanotypes, woodworking, graphic design, graffiti, film stills, and more.

I Have Something Else: Did we miss something? This is the spot for anything that doesn’t fit into the categories above. Have a fully realized zine of your own that you just want printed? We’re always open to producing stand-alone zines of a single person’s work. Don’t have anything to submit but want to help behind the scenes or take part in the release show? We’re always looking for volunteers - just let us know!

Specifications:

Submitting to more than one category? Love it! Please fill out a separate form for each, since it helps us keep track of submissions on the back end. Multiple works for the same category can all go in one submission.

Up to 5 files per submission. For visual work, high-resolution files (300dpi) are best. Don’t have one? No problem. If your work is accepted, we’ll reach out and help you get proper documentation.

Previously published work is not accepted.

Accepted contributor benefits include:

  • We print your work at no cost to you

  • Free editing/documentation assistance

  • 10 complementary copies of the DiZines 2027 Magazine

  • Your work featured on our website / socials

Our June Release Show is open to all accepted contributors and will include readings, projections, screenings, vendors, live art demonstrations, and more. Have an idea for something we didn’t list? Tell us!
